Four programs, one account — which one to run
MetaTrader 5, MetaTrader 4, the Exness Terminal in a browser and the Exness Trade app all reach the same account. They differ in what they can display, which accounts they will connect to and whether they leave anything on the machine. This site works through those differences page by page.
Open Exness Account →Four programs reach an Exness account and they are not versions of each other. MetaTrader 5 is the wider desktop terminal, MetaTrader 4 the older one that keeps the MQL4 add-on ecosystem, the Exness Terminal runs in a browser with nothing installed, and the Exness Trade app carries the account and the portal functions on a phone. Pick by the machine in front of you and by the add-ons that have to keep working; the account, the funds and the tier are the same behind all four.
Minimum deposit applicable; may vary based on payment method or geographic location.
What the software side gives you, and what it costs
- Four programs on one account: MetaTrader 5, MetaTrader 4, the browser Terminal and the Exness Trade app
- The browser Terminal needs no install, which is what makes a shared or locked-down computer usable
- MT4 and MT5 install side by side on the same machine, each with its own accounts and add-on folder
- A demo account opens in the same terminal as a live one, so a build can be tested before it is funded
- Negative balance protection — losses are limited to the funds deposited
- Swap-free (Islamic) accounts connect to the same platforms as the rest
- Most withdrawals are processed automatically, 24/7 — processing times may vary
Processing times may vary depending on the chosen payment method.
Which account opens in which program
| Account | Platform | Spread from | Commission | Suited to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | MT4 / MT5 / Terminal | from 0.3 pips | $0 | Opens in every program, including the browser Terminal |
| Standard Cent | MT4 / MT5 | from 0.3 pips | $0 | Desktop and mobile terminals only; cent lots, symbols carry the m suffix |
| Pro | MT4 / MT5 / Terminal | from 0.1 pips | $0 | Instant execution; the order window behaves differently from a market-execution account |
| Raw Spread | MT4 / MT5 / Terminal | from 0.0 pips | up to $3.50 / side / lot | Commission appears as its own line in the terminal's history, not in the spread |
| Zero | MT4 / MT5 / Terminal | 0.0 pips on majors | from $0.20 / side | Commission line again; the Market Watch spread can read 0 on top instruments |
Delays, slippage may occur. No guarantee of execution speed, precision.
Pick the page for the program in front of you
Windows: which one
MT5, MT4 or the browser Terminal — decided by the machine and the add-ons.
MT5 — the program
21 timeframes, Depth of Market, calendar built in, MQL5 add-on folder.
MT4 — the program
The lighter terminal, kept for expert advisors and indicators written in MQL4.
Browser build
Nothing installed, nothing stored — and no add-on layer either.
Two passwords, two systems
Portal email and password, or account number, trading password and server.
Test bench
Prove the install, the add-on and the layout before any of it is funded.
Start where the problem is: choosing a Windows program, two passwords, two systems, the browser build, finding a symbol in the tree or installers and updates.
The short version
The four programs are not versions of one another. MetaTrader 5 carries the wider chart toolkit and its own MQL5 add-ons; MetaTrader 4 exists to keep MQL4 files running; the Exness Terminal installs nothing and leaves nothing behind; the Exness Trade app adds the portal functions no MetaTrader terminal has. A trading account is opened for MT4 or for MT5 and the other terminal will refuse it, so that choice comes before the download. Independent user opinion is on Trustpilot. CFDs carry a high risk of losing money — confirm the current terms before depositing.

What traders say about Exness:
Exness. They're terrible, thieves! I swear, it dropped 300 points in a minute! Another broker didn't let it drop like that. This drop was just to make me lose money. They're thieves and scammers!
